What we treat

What We Treat

Aurora Counseling Associates works with individuals, couples and families across anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction and recovery, perinatal mental health, and relationship difficulty, with dedicated care for children and teens. Every area has its own page explaining how the work goes and which clinicians do it.

Areas we work in

Every area the practice covers

Each one has its own page explaining how the work goes and which clinicians do it.

How to use this page

The areas below are how we organize the work, not how you have to describe it. Most people arrive with a situation rather than a diagnosis, and the first conversation is partly about working out which of these it belongs in.

If more than one applies, that is the norm rather than a complication. Anxiety and depression travel together. Trauma sits underneath a great deal of what looks like something else. A couple in difficulty often has two individual histories in the room. We match you with a clinician whose training covers the combination rather than the headline.

If you are not sure where you fit

Say so when you get in touch. A short call is usually enough to work out whether we are the right practice and which clinician makes sense, and it costs nothing.

If what you need sits outside what we do, we will tell you plainly and point you somewhere specific rather than handing you a directory. Mental health resources lists the services worth using.

Questions

Common questions

What if more than one of these applies to me?
That is the norm. Anxiety and depression travel together, and trauma often sits underneath what looks like something else. We match you with a clinician whose training covers the combination rather than just the headline.
Do I need a diagnosis before I book?
No. Most people arrive with a situation rather than a diagnosis. Working out what it is, is part of the work.
What if you do not treat what I am dealing with?
We will tell you plainly and point you somewhere specific. A referral in the first conversation is a better outcome than six months with the wrong practice.
