Your privacy

Website Privacy Policy

How Aurora Counseling Associates handles information collected through this website. This is separate from the privacy of your care, which HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices protect.

The health information you share with a clinician during care (protected health information, or PHI) is governed by HIPAA and by our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive when you begin services. This website policy covers information collected from visitors to this site. Browsing here is not the same as being a client, and visiting a page does not create PHI.

What this website collects

We keep website data collection to a minimum.

Analytics. We use privacy-first, cookieless analytics that count page visits in aggregate. It sets no cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not collect information that identifies you personally. We do not run advertising trackers or social-media pixels, such as the Meta pixel, anywhere on this site.

When you reach out. If you use our appointment request form, call, or email, you choose what to share, for example your name, contact details, and a short note about what brings you in. Our appointment form is hosted by monday.com, and what you enter there is submitted to us through their service.

Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and reliability. These are not used to build a profile of you.

How we use website information

To respond to you, to arrange an initial consultation, to keep the site secure, and to understand in aggregate which pages are useful so we can improve them.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising. We do not place advertising or social-media tracking on this site.

When we share information

Only with the service providers that help us run the site and respond to you, for example our website host and the appointment-form provider, and only as needed for those functions, or when required by law. Where a provider handles information that could include health details, we work to put appropriate agreements in place.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information submitted through this site. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send detailed health information through the website or by unencrypted email. If you are already a client, use the secure channels your clinician has given you.

Your choices

You can reach us to ask what information we hold from a website inquiry, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. Because our analytics is cookieless and anonymous, there is nothing to opt out of and no tracking to switch off.

Children

This site is intended for adults seeking care for themselves or their family. We do not knowingly collect information from children through the website.

Links to other sites

We link to outside resources such as directories and crisis lines. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read them.

In a crisis

This website and our practice do not provide emergency services. If you or someone you are with is in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support any time, call or text 988.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date below reflects the most recent version.
